Artemide × Danese Milano – An institution of Italian design

Founded in Milan in 1957 by Bruno Danese and Jacqueline Vodoz, Danese Milano has, since its inception, established itself as a platform for designers, architects and artists whose functional and aesthetically sophisticated creations have left a lasting mark on Italian design.

From the very beginning, Danese Milano collaborated with some of the most important Italian designers of the 20th century. Designs by Bruno Munari, Enzo Mari, Angelo Mangiarotti and Achille Castiglioni brought the brand renown far beyond Italy’s borders and had a lasting impact on its identity. Today, Danese Milano carries on this design legacy with international designers such as Naoto Fukasawa, Michele De Lucchi, Jean Nouvel and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) .

Carlotta de Bevilacqua took over the company in 1999 and has been continuously developing the brand ever since. Artistic directors such as Ron Gilad (2017–2018) and Giulio Iacchetti (since 2019) have further developed the range and opened up new perspectives, whilst preserving the brand’s distinctive approach.

Danese Milano has been part of the Artemide Group since 1999. Whilst Artemide is known internationally primarily for innovative lighting solutions and luminaires, Danese Milano complements the group’s portfolio with design objects, home accessories and selected luminaires. Both brands share a commitment to combining design with innovation, functionality and high creative and conceptual quality.
