Jumbo
New York design studio Jumbo was launched in 2018 by old friends Justin Donnelly and Monling Lee. In their projects the pair combine reduction and a healthy sense of humour to create unique objects and environments. Shapes, materials and colours that bring joy are a central element for Jumbo - there is a very good reason that Donelly and Lee describe themselves as advocates of "affective" design. The Neotenic table lamp also embodies this design approach: in contemporary shapes and colours, the table lamp created in 2022 for Petite Friture is a truly stylish mood enhancer.
Justin Donnelly received a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and studied architecture at Columbia University. His works have been exhibited internationally and he has published articles in prestigious magazines. His current projects include a large wastewater treatment plant in Alexandria, Virginia.
Monling Lee has a wealth of experience as an architect and urban planner and has already worked on projects as diverse as private houses, city parks and monuments. In addition, Lee explored the connection between personal style and the built environment in terms of colour in her solo project Colorindex.us. Monling Lee has a history of collaborations with international brands and publications in prestigious magazines. Her work for Jumbo is characterized in particular by the passionate use of emotional forms, convincing colours and tactile materials.
