Jørgen Rasmussen

Little can be said about Jørgen Rasmussen's career without mentioning his twin brother Ib. The brothers visited the Kunstakademische Architekturschule together, graduated in 1955, served in the army, and founded their architectural office in 1957. Together the brothers soon had success, and Jørgen additionally began to develop furniture designs. At the end of the 1960s, the so-called Kevi chair was designed by Jørgen for the Kevi, a work for which he also invented a new type of double wheel in 1965. For this so-called Kevi castor he received not only the ID prize, his invention is now used in different areas - at Ikea as well as at Phillips. The Kevi chairs, still an office chair classic, were originally produced by Fritz Hansen from 1986, and since 2008 have been exclusively produced by the Danish manufacturer Engelbrecht.
