Designer Hauke Murken
Hauke Murken is an established German product designer whose work is characterised by clarity, functionality and sustainable design quality. He has been working with Sven Hansen in their joint studio Murken Hansen in Berlin since 1999. Their aim is to develop new archetypes and consistently improve existing products through a precise, innovation-driven design process. Their guiding principle is: "Form follows innovation."
During his studies at the HDK Berlin (now UdK), Murken designed the Last Minute folding table for Nils Holger Moormann. The furniture is now considered a modern design classic and is part of renowned collections, including the Neue Sammlung in Munich, the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York.
The Murken Hansen duo develops products for internationally renowned manufacturers such as Cor, Freifrau, KFF, Audo Copenhagen, Müller Small Living and Moormann. Their designs have received numerous awards, including the German Design Award, the iF Award, the Interior Innovation Award and the Good Design Award Japan.
In addition to his practical design work, Murken is intensively involved in teaching and passes on his knowledge at universities such as the UdK Berlin, Burg Giebichenstein Halle, Dessau University of Applied Sciences and the Bauhaus University Weimar. His aim always remains the same: to design products that remain relevant in the long term thanks to their clarity, user-friendliness, high quality and timeless design.
