Studio Kaksikko

Behind the Helsinki-based design duo Studio Kaksikko stand Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters, two former students from the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, who specialise in the manufacture of ceramic tableware and wooden furniture. The focus of Studio Kaksikko's designs is an interest in functional, restrained shapes and the haptic quality of the carefully selected materials as well as in the manufacturing process itself. Studio Kaksikko manufacture their designs, including the Muuto Ridge Vase with great attention to detail in small series by hand. The design duo perceives the rational, functionalist approach of Scandinavian design of the 20th century to be particularly relevant.
