The Vitra Polygon Clock was designed as part of a series of other clocks by George Nelson. Due to the cultural upheavals experienced by America in the 1950s, there developed a general desire for aesthetics in context of interior design, rather than pure functionality. Against this background George Nelson designed a range of everyday objects which were anything but commonplace: a collection which includes the Polygon Clock, an object which, as with all the Nelson wall clocks is produced by Vitra and which thanks to its geometric shape has become a genuine design classic. Twelve polygonal sculptures form the symmetrical dial of the exceptional clock while the dark walnut casing makes it a classy accessory for any wall.
