The English designer Jasper Morrison created the Rotary Tray etagere in 2014 for the Swiss manufacturer Vitra. Representing a particularly expressive form of design Vitra aim to provide objects which provide a consistently high quality and functional standards for home and office. Jasper Morrison, who is rightly regarded as one of the most successful industrial designers of the last decades, represents in his work exactly the sort of products Vitra aim to produce. Indeed together with the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, Morrison coined the term "super normal" as a response to the question of what should be good design. Morrison's understanding of the phrase can be seen quite clearly in his work, works which are often formally unobtrusive, and thus all the more useful and functional. An excellent example is his Rotary Tray. The unconventional etagere which through the marvel that is the not quite centrally mounted upper level, creates a new impression on a familiar object. Devoid of further embellishments, but with a 360° rotatable upper level, the Rotary Tray is completely adaptable and provides for perfect storage of keys, cards, fruits, vegetables, soap or similar. Thanks to the wide range of contemporary colours the Vitra Rotary Tray can be effortlessly added to any existing colour scheme or interior design concept.
