The Tolomeo Basculante Lettura floor lamp arose from a collaboration between Giancarlo Fassina and Michele De Lucchi for the Italian manufacturer Artemide, and as part of the Tolomeo family of table and floor lamps is most closely related to the Tolomeo Lettura. All Artemide Tolomeo lamps are characterized by their slim design and their intelligent spring balance system, a design feature which enables a flexible directional lighting. The Basculante Lettura impresses with its noble shade, which is available either as a plastic stabilised parchment paper or silk satin version, and which gives the lamp a luxurious and graceful feel in combination with the silver coloured body. Thanks to the swinging conical shade which remains in a vertical position independently of the supporting arms, the Tolomeo Basculante Lettura is ideally suited for use as a reading lamp. Consequently in the Tolomeo Basculante Lettura Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina have created a particularly shapely everyday light and one which rightly won the coveted Compasso d'Oro.
