Rolf Heide

Born in Kiel in 1932, Rolf Heide studied interior design at the town's renowned Muthesius Werkschule and since 1960 has been working as an independent interior designer and designer from his studio in Hamburg. In 1966, he designed one of his most famous pieces, the famous Stapelliege bed for Müller Small Living, an object that is also now available in a children's and an outdoor version. The simplicity of the design and the high-quality materials make the bed a classic in the field of furniture design. The work of the designer has been widely exhibited, for example in the Design Center Berlin (IDZ) or the Museum of Trade in Hamburg. In 1996 the "Designermonografie 6 - Rolf Heide" appeared in the Form publishing house and in 1999 Rolf Heide received the Karl Schneider Prize of the Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg for applied art and design. While in 2006, two of his products were included in the exhibition Weltmeister Design Deutschland.
