The original shape of the Anglepoise lamp was re-worked in 2004 by Sir Kenneth Grange and has since been produced and marketed under the name Type 75. Based on the technology developed in the 1930s by the British industrial designer George Carwardine, the table lamp is the role model for all subsequent spring tensioning systems. Today, the Anglepoise Type 75 lamps has become a classic of British product design: and not only an object featured in advertising and films, but now also in the prestigious new edition designed by the fashion designer Paul Smith. The Special Edition of the Type 75 lamp presents an impressive, almost summery, palette, which allows the classic lamp to shine in a new splendour. Completely contrasting and yet harmonious, the lamp brings a modern and cheerful flair to any workplace without losing any of its professionalism and charisma. Paul Smith himself says it was an honour to "have worked with this icon of British design."
