The Toio floor lamp, designed in 1962 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos, is a masterpiece of sophisticated ‘ready-made’ design. The interplay of a car headlamp with fishing rod rings and a boat cleat for winding the cable transforms everyday industrial objects into an expressive work of lighting art. Thanks to its height-adjustable telescopic rod made of nickel-plated brass and its dimmable, indirect light output, this lamp – which is featured in the MoMA collection – adds functional yet elegant accents to any room.
