How do I recognise an original Wagenfeld WA 24 lamp?

You can be sure that you are in possession of a Tecnolumen original by the numbering and embossed logos of the manufacturer and the Bauhaus on the underside of the base.

What is the difference between the Wagenfeld Lamps?

Design Story

As a 24-year-old Wilhelm Wagenfeld joined the metal workshop at Bauhaus Weimar, and in the same year he designed the table lamp WA 24: a lamp which today is distributed as a re-edition by the Bremen based manufacturer Tecnolumen. The four slightly different designs of the table lamp are all made according to authentic designs by Wilhelm Wagenfeld, and are the only ones authorised by Professor Wagenfeld. In addition to the WA 24, the Wagenfeld lamp family includes the WG 24 with glass tube, the WA 23 SW with black lacquered base and the WG 25 GL with glass base and metal tube. The Tecnolumen lamp was the first product from the German manufacturer Tecnolumen after its foundation in 1980. According to Wagenfeld, Bauhaus designs should be industrial products and also look as such: yet despite its industrial look the WA 24 was originally handmade. With its classic base of nickel plated metal and dome shade of opal glass, the WA 24 is a typical representative of the design of the Bauhaus period and is therefore often copied and falsified: that you are in possession of an original of Tecnolumen can be confirmed by the unique serial number and the embossed logos of both manufacturer and Bauhaus which can be found under the base.

The Tecnolumen WA 24 with metal base is a real Bauhaus classic
