Please note: If your desired Akari lamp is not currently in stock, we are unfortunately unable to tell you a specific delivery time. Due to the difficult circumstances on the world market regarding the procurement of raw materials and stagnating supply chains, as well as the fact that the Akari lamps are handmade in Japan by only a few specialists, waiting times of several months can unfortunately occur. If in doubt, please ask our friendly service team about availability before buying to avoid disappointment.

The Vitra Akari 13A floor lamp belongs to the Akari Light Sculptures collection, designed by the American-Japanese designer Isamu Noguchi in 1951. Noguchi found inspiration during a trip to Japan in the city of Gifu, which is known for making paper umbrellas and lanterns. Since then, more than 100 Akari table lamps, floor lamps and suspension lamps have been produced, in which the sculptural style of Noguchi is repeatedly expressed. The unique Vitra paper luminaires are traditionally hand-crafted from Washi paper and exude a pleasantly soft light and restrained lightness. Since 2002, Vitra has been working closely with the Isamu Noguchi Foundation, the manufacturer of the Akari lights. The signum in the form of sun and moon on each original Akari lamp guarantees its authenticity and uniqueness. The Vitra label also brings together renowned designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and Verner Panton.
