About Kristine Five Melvær

The Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær (born 1984) deliberately works across disciplines, designing furniture, lighting, textiles, tableware and home accessories. Her designs are characterised by minimalist forms, a distinctive use of colour and a keen sense of Material and its effect. For Kristine Five Melvær, the central focus is on how objects are perceived in everyday life and the relationships people form with them. After studying industrial design at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, she went on to complete a Master’s degree in visual communication at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Kristine Five Melvær has collaborated with international manufacturers and brands such as Hay, Poltrona Frau and Røros Tweed, and has received numerous awards for her work. For Hay she designed the Juice Vase, whose soft contours and transparent colour scheme reflect the designer’s signature style.
