The Viscontea pendant light, designed in 1960 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos, captivates with its spectacular use of the iconic Cocoon technique. In this manufacturing process, a fine layer of synthetic resin is sprayed over the internal steel frame in a spider’s web-like pattern, creating a gently curved, organic silhouette. Featured in the MoMA collection, the luminaire thus produces a pleasantly diffused, warm ambient light and, as a floating light sculpture, adds a timeless, high-calibre accent to any interior.
