Formally and materially, the Vitra Soft Pad Chairs are reminiscent of the Aluminium Group which Charles and Ray Eames created a decade earlier. Released in 1969 the Soft Pad Chairs are still found in stylishly furnished office and work areas and in contrast to the Vitra Alu Chairs are characterized by their upholstery which makes them look like the more muscular version of the aluminium family, but also incredibly soft and inviting. In all versions, the Soft Pad Chair group is suitable for the office environment, but also for waiting areas, lounge zones or even at home. As with the Aluminium Chairs, Charles and Ray Eames once again proved that their strength lies primarily in the creation of universal furniture that is not associated with a rigid use or location but can be inserted into almost any room. The designs of the Eames are produced today by the Swiss furniture company Vitra, which can look back on a long tradition in working with renowned designers and the production of furniture classics and has a long ingrained philosophy of operating according to the values of sustainable production processes and powerful designs which enrich the environment of its customers by high quality.
