Edward van Vliet

Edward van Vliet is one of the most influential designers on the modern Dutch design scene. After studying architecture, interior design and industrial design at the Design Academy Eindhoven and the HKU School of Arts in Utrecht, he founded his own studio in 1990. Since then, he has been working at the interface between product design, interior design and interior design for private and commercial spaces, combining cultural influences and inspiration from nature with a great respect for local contexts.

As van Vliet himself says: "Nature is the greatest designer in the world and also the most comprehensive source of inspiration. Rich and colourful. Full of life and detail." Colours, textures, patterns and shapes merge in his work to create expressive, detailed compositions.

With over 25 years of experience and close collaboration with internationally renowned brands such as Moooi, &Tradition and Moroso, van Vliet has developed his own signature style, characterised by diversity, precision and a clear, goal-oriented approach. With the Develius sofa for &Tradition, he demonstrates how his design philosophy can be translated into a contemporary piece of furniture.
