Benjamin Hubert (born in 1984 in the United Kingdom (UK)) is one of the most influential British product designers of his generation. After studying Industrial Design and Technology at Loughborough University, he initially set up his own design studio, which in 2015 became the London-based creative agency LAYER. As founder and Creative Director, Hubert works with an interdisciplinary team to develop products and concepts at the intersection of design, technology and user experience.

His clients include international brands such as Muuto, Vitra, Bang & Olufsen, Poltrona Frau, Airbus, Samsung, Nike, Moroso and Fritz Hansen. His work ranges from furniture and lighting to smart wearables and innovative communication and mobility solutions. Sustainability, user-centred design and a timeless design language are at the heart of his work.

Benjamin Hubert designed the Strand lighting series for Muuto. These distinctive lights combine a soft, sculptural form with modern manufacturing technology to create a pleasantly diffused light. With their almost floating appearance, the Strand lights perfectly embody Hubert’s aim of combining innovative materials, technical precision and emotional impact.
