smow in Milan: Philippe Starck on Kartell and democtratic design

Born in Paris in 1949 Philippe Starck designed the table and stool Prince AHA for the Italian contemporary furniture manufacturer Kartell. As an interior architect and product designer Philippe Starck can look back on a long career full of genuine creative highpoints, perhaps most notably his "Ghost" seating family for Kartell including the famous Louis Ghost Chair. Consisting of two cones joined together in an hourglass form the Kartell Prince AHA is defined by its quiet, easy geometry while the discreet colouring in delicate pastel shades provides a personal, unobtrusive aesthetic. The Kartell Prince AHA can be used as a side table or as a stool and thus can be understood within the tradition of Kartell's commitment to flexible contemporary furniture that complements any space - inside or out. And a tradition Kartell has established over 50 years with the development and production of designer furniture made of plastic, and objects which, like the Prince AHA, are characterized by individuality and possess an innovative character.
