Jaime Hayon is different. Born in 1974 in Madrid his works are not, as with so many of his contemporaries, simple re-editions of past classics nor too abstract to be useful, rather Hayon produces fresh ideas which take us back to basics. Jaime Hayon designs furniture that meets modern demands; furniture in and on which people like to work or relax. The dining table Analog reflects this very well again. Jaime Hayon wants to bring us together again, and to leave the digital world in the background. On account of its special shape no-one is excluded from the table, rather all are invited to engage in a dialogue with their neighbours. Jaime Hayon understands the table itself as a natural centrepiece of any room, be that in the office, at home or in a restaurant. At an inviting table the most meaningful talks occur, most important decisions are made and greatest moments celebrated. The Danish manufacturer Fritz Hansen has been successfully cooperating for many decades with world-renowned designers, including, and perhaps most famously, Arne Jacobsen whose designs such as the Series 7 Chair or the Egg Chair have developed over the decades into genuine design classics. Whether the designs of Jaime Hayon will manage to emulate such great success remains to be seen: objects such as Ro and Analog however definitely have the potential.
