The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSL, designed by Charles and Ray Eames, is characterised by its striking four-legged tubular steel base, which gives the classic a particularly clear and straightforward aesthetic. As the sole licence holder, Vitra manufactures this design in various versions, whereby the seat shell has been consistently made from resource-saving recycled material since 2024. In contrast to the DAL armrest version, this model presents itself as a slender side chair that fits into a wide variety of living and working areas thanks to its functional design. The combination of historical design standards and modern sustainability makes this model a timeless piece of furniture for contemporary interiors.

However, on closer inspection, tiny pigments of a different colour may be visible in the light seat shell colours. These pigments are not a defect, but a characteristic of the new sustainable material. | Care | Please use a soft, damp cloth and a mild, neutral cleaning agent to clean the plastic surfaces. For upholstered versions: Dust and fluff can simply be vacuumed away. To treat stains, please use a damp cloth and a mild, neutral detergent. Professional cleaning should be carried out in the assembled state and using upholstery foam or with the aid of a mobile washing-extraction device. |

This material consists of a granulate of recycled plastics from the German "Yellow Bag" collection system. This new type of material is 100% recyclable and causes significantly fewer climate-damaging emissions during its production, as well as requiring less energy. Vitra is ISO 9001: 2008 (quality management standard) ISO 14001: 2004 (environmental management standard) Vitra has been offering a take-back programme since 1 June 2019: Eames Fibreglass Chairs and Eames Plastic Chairs that are no longer used can be returned to Vitra. |
