Springtime in Paris: Ron Arad and Jasper Morrison exhibitions
...Be it his Morrison bench’s, his Cork family stools or his SIM chair, all for Vitra, Jasper Morrison’s work is characterized by a simple, minimalistic charm...
Jasper Morrison designed the Cork Family in 2004 for the Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra. When asked what good design should Jasper Morrison replies "supernormal", a term he coined with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa and that applies to most of his work. His designs combine a formal calm, an inherent responsibility and a usefulness - properties that can also be found in his Cork Family. The 3 small stools can also be used as occasional tables. All combinable with one another: and which make perfect use of cork's natural properties: lightweight and stable in addition, and as with wood, the surface of cork feels warm and velvety at the same time. Available in three different forms the cork stools are at times reminiscent of an hourglass, at time on an oversized bottle and are in all respects more than the usual home accessory.
