One could easily imagine that the Tempo clock is straight out of the pages of a comic. And you'd almost be right. But much more the Magis accessory comes from the authorship of the popular Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. In his design Fukasawa has reduced the clock on the essentials: 12 strokes, 2 pointers and a frame.

Design Story

The Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa designed the Tempo clock in 2011 for the Italian manufacturer Magis. The Magis Tempo wall clock is made of ABS via a two-point injection moulding process and is available in a range of colour variations. In his design Fukasawa ignored the conventions of clock design and instead opted for a much more reduced form language, for example the traditional numbers have been replaced by simple strokes. The effect is of a contemporary clock whose aesthetic appears to come directly from the world of comics, a timepiece which is as much an eye catcher as it is a practical object. With its sober design the Magis clock recalls classic models of times past and enriches any space without drawing unnecessary attention to itself.
