Why have the Cassina products of the LC collection been renamed?

Design Story
The LC6 Table was designed by Le Corbusier in collaboration with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret and the young designer Charlotte Perriand in 1928 and is today produced according to their original designs by the Italian manufacturer Cassina. Cassina own the exclusive rights to the entire series LC and guarantees the originality of all products through the embossing of all frames with their logo, the designers signature and an identification number. With the LC Collection Le Corbusier and his colleagues achieved a family of perfectly shaped and highly functional furniture which can be used in many contexts in public, commercial, domestic and business spaces and provides for contemporary and coordinated visual landscapes. Characteristic of the LC Collection is the combination of industrial materials with natural materials and industrial processes with traditional craftsmanship. The Cassina LC6 features a steel base in which the steel tubes are rounded in profile as in aviation, and which thus resemble the spacers between the wings of a biplane. This technical finesse, as with the thread via which the height of the table can be changed by up to 5 cm, is a pleasing eye-catcher.
