Developed by the designer Konstantin Grcic for the Italian manufacturer Magis the bar stool Stool_One offers a combination of geometric aesthetics and industrial production. Born in 1965 in Munich, Grcic initially completed an apprenticeship in carpentry before deciding to study design. On account of his education and background Grcic succeeds probably more competently than any of his peers in combining contemporary production techniques, innovative materials, design and architecture into unconventional, yet easily accessible, objects. Featuring graphic elements and formal harshness Stool_One by Magis offers a high recognition value while at the same time exuding extravagance, familiarity and reliability. The legs of the Magis stool are made of polished, anodised or painted aluminium, the seat in die cast aluminium optionally available in a version surface treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and painted in polyester powder. Adding to the versatility of Stool_One Magis produce the work in two heights, a bar version and a slightly lower kitchen version. A robust and durable piece of industrial production the Magis Stool_One is exceptionally weather and fire resistant and is thus particularly suitable for outdoor use, be that in private or commercial situations.
