Details
With the Oxford conference chair Arne Jacobsen created a design inspired by the St. Catherine's College in Oxford, and a design inspired by the aura of the institution. For all the high backrest embodies the prestige of the institution: however with its clear, reduced formal language the Oxford chair also possesses a very typical Scandinavian signature. Functional yet inviting, modern yet elegant, Arne Jacobsen's chair is equally happy in the office or the home. Distributed by Fritz Hansen in various variants the Oxford chair is optionally available with a five foot base on glides with fixed height and spring function or as height adjustable chair on castors and featuring a swivel version, and adjustable back height. As with much of Arne Jacobsen's work the Oxford Chair has the potential to become a stylish centre piece in any office or home. The Copenhagen carpenter Fritz Hansen established his company in 1872 and in the course of the company's long history has cooperated with numerous international designers, whereby the cooperation with Arne Jacobsen proved particularly successful and helped the company establish an international reputation for quality, integrity and design competence.
