Wolfgang Hartauer
Trained as a carpenter and subsequently studying architecture, Wolfgang Hartauer could not be better trained as a designer. The self-proclaimed handyman is now predominately active in product design with his studio Interior Things based in the German town of Holzminden. At the beginning of every design process, Harthauer analyses an everyday problem for which he is looking for a simple solution. The visual arts are an important inspiration; Wolfgang Hartauer conceives a design not only as a functional object, but also in its symbolism. The best example of this approach is Hartauer's metering Meterware system for Tecta. The Meterware accessories are part of a holistic collection and not only ensure order, but also develop sculptural quality thanks to minimalist forms and exquisite materials.
