Frank Rettenbacher
Born in Bregenz in 1979 Frank Rettenbacher is one the most versatile designers of his generation.
After studying industrial design at the FH Joanneum in Graz, Rettenbacher gained his first professional experience at Audi Design in Ingolstadt before his path as a product designer led him to Philips Design in the Netherlands.
Today as Creative Director at A.D.O. Amsterdam Design Office, Rettenbacher leads an international team that in addition to responsibility for the design of all Philips TV and audio products, works with a range of international brands. In addition Rettenbacher has maintained his own design studio since 2013 from where he has designed furniture for renowned manufacturers such as Zanotta and Thonet as well as products for Bowers & Wilkins and Kvadrat textiles.
Frank Rettenbacher's creative work has been recognized with numerous design awards, including the iF Gold Award, the Red Dot Best of the Best Award and the Dutch Design Award. One of his most famous and futuristic works, the glass television "DesignLine" designed for Philips, has been included in the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Amsterdam.
In addition to his work as a designer, Frank Rettenbacher is a passionate musician. As a cellist, he released his debut album Morba together with the Dutch producer and DJ Bardo Camp.
Rettenbacher lives and works in Amsterdam.
