Good relationships are particularly important in online business. Which is exactly what USM relied on when the Swiss manufacturer gave the green light for the collaboration with the smow online shop 15 years ago.

Jörg is the founder of smow and one of the four managing directors of the smow online shop. smow is like a second family for Jörg, and here Jörg explains what role USM plays in this family.
When the online shop was launched in 2008 not many people believed in the idea. Luckily Jörg has been able to prove everyone wrong over the last 15 years. The message from smow has always been: Buy good furniture, buy furniture that will last 10, 20 or 50 years, that you can pass on to your children.
Of course, the best way to achieve this is to find manufacturers who not only produce very good designs, but are also interested in a very good, long-term collaboration. The best example of this is the premium partner USM. USM produces every single part itself in a small village in Switzerland, thus ensuring high quality. And while in the beginning it was very difficult to get a dealer contract for the smow online shop, the value of the cooperation for both sides has been proven and smow is very proud of the years of great cooperation, the many mutual visits, the trust and the successful joint development.
It all started with Jörg - he founded smow in 2002 and the online shop six years later
The high-quality furniture offered in the online shop should always be reflected in the service at smow - both online and offline. (This was the only way a manufacturer like USM could be convinced!) "We were the first to develop a USM configurator via which our customers could design their own desired shelving system and order it directly,” says Jörg in an interview. An online process in which the smow customer service in the smow online shop is professionally supportive: the USM specialists taking requests over the phone, and orders assembled in the smow warehouse meaning finished sideboards are delivered within a few days. Something that had never happened before. And in the local stores, an even deeper connection with customers could be established and their wishes and design ideas could be addressed more specifically.

Jörg is a fan of USM - on the one hand because it is a classic that everyone recognizes, on the other hand because it has this modularity... And because USM has managed to remain adaptable. USM has also developed as a company, from begining as a pure office shelving manufacturer to a provider of modular home furniture.
