Shades of Grey - Interior design with grey tones

Masters, Grey

Fascinating world of colours: Grey

Fritz Hansen Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen

Grey is the colour of architecture, concrete and thus of modernity and is perceived above all as a neutral, factual colour that stands for stability, reliability and rationality, but can also appear cold and numb. This is because grey, in the pure mixture of black and white, has no colour impression and is therefore referred to as a chromatic colour, which only shows the gradations between black and white. In conjunction with an additional colour component, however, there is an endless range of warm and cool grey tones between light and dark grey, and which have very different effects. The advantages of grey as a furnishing colour also lie in its factual, reserved and timeless character: that beyond its understanding as a bureaucratic and monotonous tone, grey proves to be extremely versatile and particularly suitable for combining with other, even very strong, colours. In addition to popular tones such as black, white and beige, grey provides an ideal basis for your colour concept. A grey wall or furniture hue appears unobtrusive and elegant and can be perfectly combined with woods, pillows, blankets and other home accessories in strong saffron yellow or dark red and dark blue. A grey sofa also has the advantage that light soiling does not immediately show. The possible combinations with grey are also very versatile: in combination with pink tones, grey develops a soft, romantic quality, while grey appears fresh and modern in combination with clear shades of blue. A particularly balanced and harmonious ambience can be created with a combination of grey, green and wood tones.
