Lounge Chairs from Fritz Hansen
In 1872, Fritz Hansen began with the production of furniture in Copenhagen and in the following centuries their first-class carpentry and cooperations with the luminaries of modern age saw them contribute to design history. From the beginning, a special focus was on the production of seating furniture. So it is not surprising that the Fritz Hansen portfolio includes some of the most legendary chair designs of the 20th century. For example, the Egg Chair and Swan Chair were designed in 1958 by architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the lounge area of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. They are an important part of modern design history and are in demand as luxurious, comfortable seating for both public lobbies and private living spaces. In addition to design classics, the Fritz Hansen lounge chair collection also includes contemporary designs that often enter into dialogue with the history of design and thus pick up and reinterpret forms. Jaime Hayon, for example, has developed the comfortable Ro armchair for Fritz Hansen, which is based on the classic British wingback chair and translates it into a contemporary design language.
