Fritz Haller & Paul Schärer

The architect Fritz Haller and the businessman Paul Schärer cooperated in the development of the USM Haller modular office furniture system, a system which USM distribute globally. In the early 1960s Fritz Haller was commissioned by the then USM managing director Paul Schärer to design a new factory and administrative building; and on completion commissioned him further to develop suitable furnishings for the new offices. Together Haller and Schärer developed the USM Haller modular system, initially conceived as a purely internal solution, over the intervening decades the USM Haller system has however grown to become one of the most successful, and widely appreciated , modular furniture systems for both home and office.
