About Foscarini

As a trio the Aplomb lamps provide for a particularly atmospheric light

The Italian company Foscarini has made a name for itself with high quality designer lamps. Founded in 1981 on the Venetian island of Murano Foscarini initially concentrated on the traditions of the local glass art, however, also embodied from the beginning a spirit of of experimentation and thus quickly moved on to other production processes and materials. Thus the Foscarini portfolio is today characterised by different materials ranging from, for example, the award-winning concrete hanging lamp aplomb to the luxurious glass ball studded Caboche Sospensione. Now located on the Venetian mainland in Marcon Foscarini is today a sort of "research workshop", which is focused on developing new products: projects which embody a formal, technical or substantive innovation. In cooperation with contemporary design talents such as Jozeph Forakis - who designed the floor lamp Havana for Foscarini, and which has already found its way into the collections of the MoMA New York and the Centre Pompidou Paris - Foscarini continue to develop a modern designer lamp collection that is as diverse as it technically sophisticated.

Sustainable value culture at Foscarini

Manufacturing at Foscarini

Passion, freedom, design, Italianità, charisma, poetry, innovation are keywords that describe the value culture at Foscarini, and which runs through every area of the company whether that of intellectual creation, creative production or the interaction of Foscarini products and people. Emotion and feeling lead their portfolio, without mental blinkers, but in a dialogue between concept and form, followed by the Italian design style of the furniture, lights and accessories.

Sustainable quality throughout the production process and the Murano glass

UNI EN ISO 9001 is the name of the certification that guarantees Foscarini conform and adhere to quality standards throughout the entire production process - and this since 1996 as one of the first Italian companies. Since 2012, the brand has been able to demonstrate a renewed certification of the brand with regard to the environmental aspect.
Regionality also plays a role for the Foscarini brand. Murano glass is obtained from local factories and was only used until 1993. Foscarini has been working with a mix of glass fibre and carbon fibre since the turn of the millennium. The high-quality glass remains an integral part of Foscarini's product signature. In this way, the company succeeds in developing impressive light objects that convince as lamps and create atmospheric light.

...French designer Ionna Vautrin first reached a broad international public with her Binic lamp for Italian manufacturer Foscarini, a design which, it's fair to say, is/was one of those genuinely, gloriously, joyous moments in the (hi)story of lighting design, a work full of character yet devoid of vanity, universally applicable yet always individual... In 2011 Ionna took the decision to establish her own studio, and from where she has realised projects for clients as varied as, and amongst many others, De Vorm, Kvadrat, Serralunga or Foscarini, and most recently for the French national train operator SNCF for whom she designed a new lamp for their high-speed TGV fleet, and a lamp subsequently released as a product in cooperation with Paris based éditeur Moustache...
