De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi

Gionatan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi, the three founders of the Italian design trio De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi, met during their studies at the Milan Polytechnic. Upon graduating in 1969 they established a joint design office in Milan and made their breakthrough one year later with their inflatable armchair Blow for Zanotta, an object completely made of PVC film. A success they quickly followed up with their Joe chair - a name which plays on the legendary baseball player Joe Dimaggio - and which they designed in the form of a baseball glove. Through such designs De Pas, D'Urbino and Lomazzi became leading protagonists of pop culture and secured their place in design history. Following the untimely death of Jonathan de Pas in 1991, D'Urbino and Lomazzi continued to work together.
